Lilac Farm, a family run guest house in Laxton, Notts, is a 17th century listed
building at the top of the village which is home to the last
open field farming system in the country. A warm welcome from the Rose
family awaits you in this cosy, traditional
The roof was updated to clay tiles in 1748. Inside the oak beams, doors and pantry remain as they were up to 400 years ago. Lilac Farm combines the beauty of a traditional beamed farm cottage with modern facilities. The original yard of the farm offers safe off-road parking for cars and larger vehicles. Children are very welcome and pets or horses can be catered for by prior arrangement. We have two double rooms and a family room which can be opened up to join one of the double rooms, sleeping up to six people. One room has an en suite toilet and all have wash hand basins, colour TV and tea / coffee making facilities.
We are equally conveniently situated for guests travelling on the Nottinghamshire section of the A1 who need to break a long journey or for those who are visiting Robin Hood country for a longer stay. Our tranquil rural location within easy reach of excellent transport links make this a perfect place to stay when visiting the Newark Showground and nearby Swinderby - an antique collector’s paradise, staging world famous Antiques Fairs several times a year - historic Newark on Trent, Southwell Minster, Lincoln or Nottingham.
Please note that this is a rural village and the nearest railway stations are at Retford or Newark, both of which are a taxi ride away. Please click here to download our access statement. The property is completely non-smoking. Site last updated 29th July 2010 |
