The Rose family have lived in Laxton for many years. Your hostess, Margaret Rose, once lived with her family at The Dovecote Inn where her father was the last person to farm the land then attached to the tenancy of the Inn.

Reg and Margaret took over Bottom Farm in the early 1950s, where they farmed until their son, Stuart, took over there and they moved to Lilac Farm. They began welcoming B&B guests during their farming years and continued to do so after their move.

A particular feature of Lilac farm is the beautiful display of colourful bedding plants in a variety of conventional and agricultural containers which are lovingly tended by Margaret Rose. Margaret is known to her many friends and family as a wonderful traditional farmhouse cook and her guests enjoy the benefits of many years' experience preparing breakfasts to set you up for the day!

The barns and land attached to the property are still in agricultural use as part of the tenancy of Bottom Farm. One of the barns is home to the Laxton Heritage Museum, which is in the private ownership of the family and which can be viewed by prior arrangement.
