Stuart Rose regularly takes guided walks in and around Laxton. There is a series of public walks which take place six times a year and cover different aspects of the Laxton landscape. The 2012 programme will be published shortly. The unique farming system is of interest to many, while others enjoy hearing how this works hand in hand with modern farming practice to preserve the historic landscape and biodiversity.

On May 1st every year, Rattlejag Morris from Retford come to Laxton castle to dance in the May, and Stuart leads a walk to witness this. After a barbeque breakfast on top of the castle, walkers set off with Stuart and a local bird expert to identify the members of the dawn chorus.

A couple of weeks later a group of walkers make an evening visit to the fields to identify the wealth of native plants and flowers with the help of an expert guide.

Whatever your interest, Stuart is happy to take guests staying at Lilac Farm on a walk tailored to you interests and walking abilities. NB at some times the demands of farming are pressing and prior booking is essential to ensure your walk can be accommodated.
